Nov 1 - Mike Warren ------
I have posted two pics of Co C, 16th Inf Rgt in formation. They were taken in 1948 or 49 at Monteith Barracks in Fuerth, Germany. The company officers are identifiable in one of the pics. My dad, SFC Otto R. Cook is receiving the "Best Mess" award. The website is www.infantry16th.jowestcorp.com .

My father served in the 16th Infantry Regt. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the Combat Infantry Badge. The paperwork I recieved from the Army is hard to understand and I was hoping to find more information on what he went through during this time. Place of separation was Fort Bragg, NC and his name was Robert V McCall and the timeline looks like it is between 1944 or sooner to 1951. However, I'm not sure what I'm reading. He died in 1966 when he became sick while he was station in Alaska and had to return to Fort Dix. Any help would be great.

Here is 2 long shots! My father, John Pershing Warren (yes Pershing is right, the great man signed my father's baptism role) served in Company C, 16th Infantry Regiment from 1942 to 1954. landed at Omaha beach and carried on throughout the European Campaign. He 'won' several medals and was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. I have tried to find out the 'journey' of Company C through the war,but it has proved idfficult. i know they landed in the second wave on easy Red section of Omaha Beach but as we all know it was rather a mess. Is there anyone out there who can help me with my research.
Second long shot, my grandfather, Sergeant Robert Warren served under General Pershing in WW1 at Meuse-Argon.(You can see the connection now!)
He spent 45 years of his life in the Lyons Veterans Hospital , new Jersey after the war before he died in the 1960's. I cannot find any information on his military record.
I intend making a pilgrimage to Europe next summer, starting at Omaha Beach. I would appreciate any information at all to help me and , Yes, my mother who is now 91 was a GI Bride and proud of it!
Wonderful organisation, keep up the good work

Hi. Im so excited to find this site!
Im looking for any info on my grandfather, Charlie Lemmon, from Augusta GA. An article I found says he was a sergeant, Company M 16th Infantry. The article says that he was in action near Fluerville France in Oct 1918. Below is an snip from the article -
He alone charged an enemy machine gunman, capturing the gun and two German Soldiers. He was seriously wounded while in the successful execution of this mission. His timely capture of the gunmen made it possible for his company to advance and organize their objective with few casualties.
I think this is so very interesting and would love to find out more. Any ideas?

Hey guys,
My stepfather, SFC Otto R. Cook, was with Co C, 16th Inf Regt, in 1948 and 1949 at Monteith Barracks, Fürth, Germany. I recently found some pics from around that time and I have posted them on my website:
www.infantry16th.jowestcorp.com
Pic 1 - Co C, 16th Infantry Regt, in formation after my step-dad received the best mess award. He was the Mess Sgt.
Pic 2 - SFC Cook receiving the award
Pic 3 - Group of GIs at one of the watering holes in Graf.
Pic 4 - Souvenir cover of a folder that contains pics from Grafenwöhr
Pic 5 - Another group at the same place.
Pic 6 - SFC Cook with another NCO (I think at the NCO club on Monteith).
Pic 7 - Group of NCOs at the same club.
If any of these guys are still around I would love to hear from you.
