Here is 2 long shots! My father, John Pershing Warren (yes Pershing is right, the great man signed my father's baptism role) served in Company C, 16th Infantry Regiment from 1942 to 1954. landed at Omaha beach and carried on throughout the European Campaign. He 'won' several medals and was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. I have tried to find out the 'journey' of Company C through the war,but it has proved idfficult. i know they landed in the second wave on easy Red section of Omaha Beach but as we all know it was rather a mess. Is there anyone out there who can help me with my research.
Second long shot, my grandfather, Sergeant Robert Warren served under General Pershing in WW1 at Meuse-Argon.(You can see the connection now!)
He spent 45 years of his life in the Lyons Veterans Hospital , new Jersey after the war before he died in the 1960's. I cannot find any information on his military record.
I intend making a pilgrimage to Europe next summer, starting at Omaha Beach. I would appreciate any information at all to help me and , Yes, my mother who is now 91 was a GI Bride and proud of it!
Wonderful organisation, keep up the good work
