Welcome to the 16th Infantry Association home page. The association is a non-profit veterans organization founded in 1989. in April 1991 it received the tax exempt status of a 501-c-19 under the IRS code.Its purpose is to perpetuate the history and heritage of the Regiment and to sponsor Regimental and Society of the First Infantry Division activities.
The association encourages your membership and participation. We have yearly and life memberships available. Membership is open to anyone who served with the 16th Regiment or assigned to the 1st and 2nd 16th Infantry. Honorary memberships are open to sons and daughters of former members of the regiment. Widows of former members will receive a free association membership.
The association publishes a newsletter, the Dagwood Dispatches, four times a year. It is available by mail or email to members. If you have any information about the 16th that you would like to share, please forward that to our editor.
The association maintains a Regimental CP or Hospitality room at the annual Society of the First Infantry Division's reunion. For some years now we have enjoyed the largest turn out of all the regiments. The Division has honored us with the largest room to spread out and have a great time with fellow members. Each year this is a great time to enjoy the history you made while serving and to learn from others as well as learning about other conflicts. The Division Commanding General will also be in attendance. I urge you to plan on attending the up coming reunions. If you do you will always attend in the future.
The association supports the annual Distinguished Member of the Regiment(DMOR)Investiture held at Fort Riley . Although with the new combat brigades deploying so often, some DMOR'S have been presented at our reunions.
Our heritage started before World War I and continues today with service both in Iraq and Afghanistan . The association appreciates all who have served with the historic 16th Infantry Regiment. We urge everyone to join our great group. You will be proud you did.
For many years the association has supported our current serving battalion's with a Christmas Fund of $1,500 each. We ask that the funds be spent on Soldiers and families in need.
Our annual membership dues are due in January each year. We offer a annual membership for $20 and a life membership by age. Again, consider joining a great group of heroes. We offer a wonderful website, a super quartermaster store with great items of the 16th and camaraderie only known to few.
